I'm all for good news ... bowling greens, cat rescues, the lot ... but I have to say this was NOT good reporting! They didn't give the colour or name of the cat! My cats were quite horrified by this! ;o)

When I was the editor of a community paper, one of the things readers often said to me was that they wanted to see GOOD news in the paper rather than bad. So I tried for a mix each week -- cat rescues, dog parties and cute kids to balance the car accidents, wildfires and local crime.

Actually, it's FUN to cover things like rescuing cats from trees. Everyone laughs and feels good when they read those articles.

Ha! That's great.

My hometown once printed a story, on the front page, about new grass seed at the lawn bowling green.

I live in a city now, but I can't wait to get back to somewhere rural like that.
