I'm afraid I can't think of meat pies without thinking Terry Pratchett and Cut Me Own Throat Dibbler - if you're not familiar with it don't worry - if you are, you'll know exactly what I mean. 'o)

I know bits of Cornwall quite well - enough to know that the inland parts are mostly a bit grim and the coastal parts are mostly lovely. I lived for years just 'north of the boarder' in Devon.

Nottingham I don't know - I do have a friend that went to university there, but since he was there in late '50s I don't think his recollections would be a lot of use to you! I considered studying pharmacology there, but then did something completely different instead and never even applied, let alone went up for interview, so that doesn't help either! I do remember someone telling me that some of the areas around the university were quite rough, but that tends to be the case in any decent-sized city, and may not even be true anymore. (I was choosing my uni 23 years ago, so again a tad out of date!)

Stomach cramps ongoing - I think my culprit is lack of exercise - now that the winter's here I'm more inclined to hibernate than to go for long walks!

Yum - those pies do sound delicious.

I got really interesting in the history of food when I was at school - meat pies have such a long history!

My parents were just in the UK last week! I loved it when I was there. I have some family in Cornwall actually, and it would be fun to go and visit them. If I go back to school, there's an exchange program I could do, to the University of Nottingham. Although I don't know much at all about Nottingham!

Ugh - stomach cramps. I've had them this week, too. I'm not sure what the culprit is.

I've done the forgetting thing before too - and boy do I know about it a day or so later - but not so often now I've got the pill tray. (Obviously wouldn't help for Enbrel though ... perhaps you need an 'injection tray'. Do you have to keep it in the fridge?)

LOL re Tesco's pre-packaged pasties - I semi agree with your lady in Salisbury there ... but the one I had for lunch was as close as you can buy to home made. It was from 'The Norfolk Pie Man' who has a stall on the local market on Wednesdays. (That's actually the name of their company, not me being cutsie and disguising names as usual!)

Coming to the UK again any time soon?

Got awful stomach cramps right now - but can't blame the pie man as I had them yesterday too!

That must have been startling! Glad you're feeling alright, though. My problem is usually the opposite - I forget my pills and end up skipping a day. And I often forget about Enbrel until I'm just about to fall asleep, then have to force myself up out of bed to do the injection.

When my friend and I were in Salisbury last year, we stayed with an older woman and did lots of walking and hiking. She was horrified when we ate packaged pasties from Tesco's... but they were rather tasty. Home-made is always better, of course. :)
